Michael K. Lane

Jacksonville, FL- Michael K. Lane peacefully departed this life for eternity on Monday, October 21, 2024. Born on July 12, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the union of Perry and Ida Bell (Dessie) Pearson-Lane, Michael later made Jacksonville, Florida, his home in 1978.

A proud member of Youngstown South High School’s class of 1975, Michael embarked on a career as a skilled sandblaster, a profession that took him to numerous cities and countries, including Scotland and South America.

Michael was known for his exceptional skills in the kitchen, especially for his famous pound cakes. His close bond with his sister Dewanyer, who was like a mother to him, was a constant in his life. Despite health challenges in recent years, Michael continued to visit her, sharing meals and companionship as a testament to his unwavering love and dedication.

He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with his sister, Dewanyer Locket of Jacksonville; his brother, Cornell Lane of Youngstown; and nieces, Teryle Pearson and Stacey Taylor of Jacksonville, Lisa Kandawalla of Brandon, FL, Leslie Turner and Cassandra (Robert) Gilliam of Cleveland, OH, and Terriea Mines of Youngstown, OH. He is also remembered by nephews Jason (Tonya) Pearson of Jacksonville, J. Dwayne (Shahara) Heard of Youngstown, OH, and Terrance (Cynthia) Pearson of Columbia, MD. Michael's memory lives on in 5 great-nieces, 12 great-nephews, 8 great-great-nieces, and 7 great-great-nephews, a devoted friend like a brother Darryl Presley along with numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him deeply.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eugene (Jeanette) Pearson and Milton (Anita) Pearson; sisters Delores Lane-McNeil, Anita Lane, and Laura Diane Lane; and nephews Eugene Davis and Leonard (Putt) Richardson.

Michael’s warmth and devotion to his loved ones will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a world forever touched by his presence and a legacy of love that shall echo through the ages.

The well lived and well loved life of Michael will be honored publicly. The family invites the community to lovingly recognize Michael’s life on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Rosa Glover Holmes Memorial Chapel, 4334 Brentwood Avenue, Jacksonville Fl, with a public viewing at 11:00 AM. The Celebration of Life will begin at Noon with Rev. Dr. Christopher McKee serving as the celebrant.
