Obituary For Milve Colbert

Mr. Milve Collbert was born on January 4, 1954, to the late Mrs. Mattie B. Ivey Colbert and the late Mr. Johnny Colbert, Jr. in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia.

He was educated in the public school system of Upson County and attended Drake High School. After the passing of his mother, he exited high school in the eleventh grade. Milve, along with the help and support of other Christian mothers in the community, began working at the age of sixteen to support his younger sisters and brothers. He accepted this responsibility, which began a lifetime of excellent work ethics.

He was dependable, devoted and faithful where he was employed. He began working at Thomaston Mills and he worked his way up to being a machine technician. After the closing of Thomaston Mills, he was employed by Norcom as a machine technician.

He met Ms. Shelia Brown, they fell in love and were later married on May 27, 1984. They had a loving relationship that span over forty years. To this union, two sons were born. He was the father of four children and the proud grandfather of five. he was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather who provided well for his family.

In 1986, Milve joined Friendship Baptist Church. He loved the teaching of the word; he loved his pastor and supported his church. He later joined the Usher Ministry and began serving in the church.

During his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, his sisters and brothers, washing his cars and keeping them clean and helping his wife in the yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Gloria Colbert Searcy, one daughter, Schwanda Brown Colbert and several aunts and uncles. Early, Tuesday morning, the Lord saw his son in distress. He whispered his name to come and rest. His spirit took flight and went home to eternal rest. His departure has saddened the hearts of his family, but his memory will live on in their hearts.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Shelia Brown Colbert of Thomaston, GA; children, Mrs. Yolanda Colbert (Artalious) Sneed of Mcdonough, GA, Mr. Hansen J. Colbert and Mr. JaCorrie M. Colbert both of Thomaston, GA; five grandchildren, Mr. Siya Myles and Mr. Alon Colbert both of Mcdonough, GA; Graysen Colbert and his mother Brittany Shivers of Thomaston, GA, Raina Colbert and Reagan Colbert and their Mother Jessica Colbert of Mcdonough, GA; sisters and brothers include, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Smith, Mrs. Lynette (Alan) Montgomery, Mr. Dennis Colbert, Ms. Priscilla Colbert all of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Phyllis Colbert Loving of Griffin, GA, Mr. Joel Keith (Yolanda) Colbert of Brooks, GA, and Mrs. Deborah Colbert (Alfred) Trice of Rex, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law include Mr. Horace Searcy of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Eloise Mann, Mrs. Mable Brown, Mrs. Georgia Brown and Mrs. Nancy Brown all of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Florence (Clifford) Holsey of Milledgeville, GA, Mr. Leon Brown of Augusta, GA, and Mr. Dennis (Linda) Brown of Winston Salem, NC; two aunts, Mrs. Pearl Ivey of the Salem Community and Mrs. Willie Lee Ivey of Thomaston, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
