Mr. Samuel Lee Jackson was born in Talladega, Alabama on December 27, 1930, to the union of James J. Jackson and Lula Merritt Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a member of Africa Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as chairman of the Deacon board and as a Sunday school teacher. He was a graduate of R. R. Moton High School. Samuel served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an artilleryman. He had a long career at Avondale Mills in Sycamore and Sylacauga, Alabama, from which he retired. Following his retirement from Avondale, he served many years on the board of the Sycamore Federal Credit Union.
Mr. Jackson passed away at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lula Jackson; wife, Eva R Jackson; two sisters, Clara Jackson and Ruby Bryant; three brothers, Jeremiah Jackson, Howard Jackson and Thomas Jackson; and one daughter, Cheryl D. Jackson.
Samuel leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Debra (Harold) Southern of Tuskegee, Alabama, Sandra Davis of Marietta, Georgia, Valerie (Danny) Banks of Lilburn, Georgia; three sons, Anthony (Gloria) Jackson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Michael (Linda) Jackson, Sr. of Huntsville, Alabama and Leon Estelle of Talladega, Alabama; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
