Above all else, Carrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and as well as an outstanding colleague and faithful friend to many. Carrie took very special care of her mother, Mary Henrietta Parsons. She was the primary caretaker for her in her latter years and, with the support of her siblings, was instrumental in assuring that her medical and various needs were fulfilled. Carrie had a magnetic personality that made her known for being loving, sweet, soft-spoken and stern. She will be missed for her sense of humor and dedication to her family, church family, and all who knew her.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Parson Grove Missionary Baptist Church. During her tenure at Parson Grove, she served as a dedicated member of the Sunday School and Senior Choir Department. She also served alongside her husband, Reverend Dr. Gregory Coletrane in ministry at Chilson Grove, Henry Grove, and Covington Missionary Baptist Church.
On April 21, 1984, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Reverend Dr. Irvin Gregory Coletrane. From this union was born a son, Phillip Irvin Coletrane.
