Mr. Maurice Dickerson was one of three babies born on May 31, 1963, in Talladega, Alabama to Mary Virginia Dickerson and Wilson Smoot. He answered the Master’s call on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Nashville, TN.
As a youth, Maurice attended Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the 1982 graduating class of Talladega High School. Before moving to Tennessee, Maurice was employed with the Talladega County Board of Education. He was currently employed at The Cookery, a non-profit restaurant in Nashville.
Boyly, as he was known affectionately known by everyone, was a die-hard Auburn football fan. He was known as a “talker”. Either you got mad at what he said, or you laughed and walked away.
Precious memories will remain in the heart of his daughter, Shaneika Best of Fairfax, VA; his son, Brandon Curry of Nashville, TN; three sisters, Deborah Dickerson of Talladega, AL, Teresa Swain of Nashville, TN and Melody Dickerson of Talladega, AL; two brothers, Stanley (Cynthia) Dickerson of Talladega AL and Mark (Kimberly) Dickerson of Clarksville, TN; six grandchildren, Skye and Kasey of Fairfax, VA , Zamaya of Huntsville, AL, Kayla of Talladega, AL, Kimora and Aaron of Nashville, TN; children he raised as his own, Theron, Carlos and Angelique of Marion, NC; his aunt, Fannie Dickerson of Talladega, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Virginia Dickerson and Wilson Smoot; two sisters, Maxine Beck and Laresa Dickerson; and three brothers, Kenneth “K.D” Dickerson, Jeffery Dickerson and Michael Smoot.
