Obituary For Larry James McKinney

The funeral services for the late Mr. Larry McKinney, who departed this life on Friday, September 20, 2024, will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Emmery Chapel AME Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mr. Larry James McKinney was born on July 16, 1954 in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. George and Sara Riley McKinney.

Larry was educated in the Turner County Public School System. Larry worked at the Ashburn Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Larry was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Frances Chancey McKinney. This union was blessed with eight children.

Larry was a well-known man in Ashburn, Georgia. He was a strong family man. He loved is wife and children and grandchildren and he showed it. He was a role model to many, young and old. He didn’t meet a stranger. Larry worked hard his whole life and he made sure he instilled in his children and grandchildren that hard work was an important part of life. Oh his off days, Larry was still working. He was a very giving person. If he had it or not, you would never know it. There are so many memories that will forever be cherished. He was the glue to so many, but definitely his family.

Our Loved One’s life on this earthly realm came to a close on Friday, September 20, 2024. His mother, Sara McKinley, his daughter, Jacquline Delouise McKinney, his brothers, George McKinney, Albert McKinney (“Shorty”), his sister, Willie Mae McKinney Grover (“T-Top”), all have preceded him in death.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mary Frances McKinney; his daughters, Nellie Ann McKinney, Lisa McKinney (Bjorn G. L.) Boone, Gail McKinney (Jerome Felton), Wanda McKinney (Larry Thompson), Jeanette McKinney, Sara McKinney (Patrick Frier); his son, Larry Lee McKinney; twenty-four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two sisters, Pearline McKinney, Bessie Lee McKinney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
