Milton’s mother Magdalene died in childbirth when he was five years old after giving birth to four children. His father re-married Lillie Bell Blount and they had three children. As a boy, Milton worked hard on the farm and excelled in school having learned from his father the importance of having a good work ethic. Growing up in a Christian household, Milton accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He joined Trinity CME Church in Sparta, GA as a young boy and was baptized there. After graduation, he attended Paine College in Augusta, GA where he majored in history. After college, Mr. Blount started his career in insurance in a leadership development program at The Chubb Insurance Group in Atlanta. While in Atlanta, he met the love of his life Edith Bulls Blount and they married on October 23, 1971. The couple immediately moved to San Francisco due to Mr. Blount’s job promotion with Chubb. While living in California, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Tamara Elise. Russell. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from Atlanta University in 1979. Over time, he transformed Interstate into an independent insurance agency. In 2004, Milton sold his book of business to Willie Burke's agency and continued working as a business consultant and speaker until his retirement in 2007 due to illness.
Milton was a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and was initiated in the Nu Mu Lamda chapter on July 7, 1986.
