Mrs. Shirley Ann Holmes, 75, of Lithonia, Georgia and formerly of Albany, Georgia departed this life Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Yellow Brick House in Lithonia, Georgia.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church, 3980 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31721.
Earthly Place of Rest will follow in the Riverside Oakview Cemetery, 200 Cotton Ave, Albany, GA 31701.

SHIRLEY ANN HOLMES was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 18, 1948. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alex and Flossie Bell Farmer. She entered into eternal peace on Thursday, August 22, 2024. She lived in Lithonia, Georgia.
A Time to Educate: Shirley was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School. She was a career employee with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She was a loyal, dedicated OR Surgical Tech who rendered over 30 years of outstanding and unparalleled service.
A Time to Serve: Shirley joined the church at an early age. She was a faithful member of Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rev. Dr. Raymond Polite. She remained a great servant as a “door keeper” for the Lord until her health failed.
A Time to Unite: Shirley and Willie Bagley, Sr., were the proud parents of two children, Willie Bagley, Jr. (deceased), and Valarie Simms. She was married to the late Jimmy L. Holmes.
A Time to Cherish: Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Willie Bagley, Jr.; parents, Alex and Flossie Bell Farmer; brother, Alex Farmer, Jr.; grandson, Shatavon Hayes; nieces, Angela Farmer, and Yolanda Farmer; nephew, Deion Farmer.
Cherished memories will forever remain with her daughter, Valarie Simms of Lithonia, Georgia; three grandchildren, Khalil Simms of Lithonia, Georgia, Desmond Hayes, and Sanchez Hayes, both of Albany, Georgia; five great-grandchildren, Asia, Jaylin, Desmond Jr., Javara, and AJ; five sisters, Geraldine Colliers (Harold), Maxine Lester, Linda Peterson(Bobby), and Flossie Loud (Pastor Solomon, Jr.), of Albany, Georgia, and Janice Jones, of Riverdale, Georgia; three brothers, Kelvin Farmer, and Keith Farmer, of Albany, Georgia, and Tony Farmer (Barbara), of McDonough, Georgia; one aunt, Annie Mary Riggins of Jonesboro, Georgia; one uncle, Jessie Lee White of Detroit, Michigan; eight nieces, Regina Farmer, Tonya Layfield (Willie), Janette Farmer, Kiva Hall-Brady (Haven), Shantae Jackson, and ZorDanner Jackson, of Albany, Georgia, Tometo Hayes (Lawrence), of Atlanta, Georgia, and Toni Farmer of North Carolina; ten nephews, Gregory Farmer of Jacksonville, Florida, Roger Farmer, Alvin Jones (Tamara), Travis Farmer, of Atlanta, Georgia, SaDerrick Loud of Macon, Georgia, Tavon Farmer of North Carolina, Derrick Jackson, Kevoski Jackson, and Narada Farmer, of Albany, Georgia, and Kelvin Farmer, Jr., of Decatur, Alabama; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
