Ms. Sandra Elizabeth Strickland

Passed 08/23/2024

Ms. Sandra Elizabeth Strickland entered her earthly life on April 5, 1949, to the late Essie M. Murrell and Richard Sasberry in High Point, NC, and entered her eternal home on Friday morning, August 23, 2024.

Sandra attended William Penn High School and later worked at Downtown High Point Holiday Inn and Highland Cotton Mills, where she eventually retired.

Sandra was affectionately known as "Lil Momma," "Bird," and "Lil Bit." by her family and friends. She was larger than life and had so much to live for. Every day was a celebration filled with hugs, love, laughter, dancing, some tears, and a lot of fun. There was never a dull moment when she entered a room. To truly know her was to love her.

“Lil Momma” formed strong bonds and connections with all children, regardless of their race or background. She became known as the neighborhood candy lady and would make all sorts of treats for the children. In a way, she became an entrepreneur in her own right.

As Lil Momma strolled through town, her familiar face and warm personality greeted her at every turn. People from all walks of life knew her, and she never hesitated to offer a smile, a hug, and kind words as if they were part of her own family. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she never sought anything in return for her kindness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Douglas.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her only child, Dr. N~Toni Strickland; one godson, Barry "BJ" Prince, Jr., and one goddaughter, Lisa Mills; two caring and devoted nieces, Bianca Franklin and Tammie Strickland, were like daughters, going above and beyond to ensure she was cared for. She also leaves behind a host of other special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and close friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
