Equilla Felicka Curry began life’s journey on January 27, 1980, in Talladega County, Alabama to the union of Jefferson Curry and Laverne Gooden Curry.
Mrs. Steele was a member Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she lent her voice in song as a member of the Voices of Worship. Equilla received her education in the Munford area schools and was a member of the 1999 graduating class of Munford High School. On August 11, 2012, Equilla and Moses Steele were united in holy matrimony. She loved Alabama football and was a big supporter of her children as they played football and softball.
Memories of Equilla will remain in the heart of her husband of 12 years, Moses Steele; her father, Jefferson Curry; her two sons, Demetrius Curry and Ja’vier Curry; one daughter, Kahmya Draper; two sisters, Arletha (Warren) Britt and Pamela Curry; two brothers, Tony (Louketra) Curry and Timothy (Lucretia) Curry; a special brother, Willie (Lisa) Rowland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
On the morning of August 22, 2024, Equilla’s eternal journey began. She was preceded in passing by her mother, Laverne Curry; and a brother, Tavaris Curry.
My heartfelt and sincere condolences to Brother Moses, Demetrius, Ja'vier, Kahmya, Deacon Curry, and Sister Pam. Your wife, mother, daughter, sister were truly loved, and will be sorely missed by me and many others. The loss of our sister in CHRIST is both joy and pain: joy knowing that she is singing and rejoicing with the angels in heaven, pain knowing that we will no longer hear her beautiful voice here on earth. We will miss her beautiful smile, her sweet spirit, and her gentle heart; but we have her memories to cherish. GOD makes no mistake; He is with you all, and He will comfort your hearts and bring you all peace during this difficult time. I love you all, and I pray GOD's Love and Blessings be with you all always. You all are continuously in my heart and prayers! 🙏🏽

Moses and babies, I am heartbroken to hear of Quilla going home. She had a heart of gold and a smile that was contagious. I remember our last encounter, we laughed and laughed about life and made even more memories together to carry on. I will forever miss you. I love you. 💜
