On Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, Mom was able to spread her wings to fly freely with ease and grace. The same way she took on every day of her life, enjoying spending time with family and grandchildren, as well as keeping everyone connected through her faithful and daily calls to everyone she loved.

Gloria Arlene Moton was born on May 27, 1960, in Rockingham County to the late Russell and Annie “Sweetpea” Moton. She lived her life as a faithful Eden resident and graduated from Morehead High School. She worked and enjoyed her years at the Brian Center; then finished off her work career at Biscuitville, creating those biscuits we loved. With hope, peace, love, and enjoyment, Gloria was the true definition of the life of the party as she showed us how to live your life to the fullest until the very end. Never looking back and living life the way she wanted.

Gloria was also preceded in death by her sister, Susan Thornton and nephew James Hodges. Grandparents; William and Mary Hicks, Ronald and Adelene Moton, uncles; Ray Moton, William Hicks, and aunt, Mary “Bay” Hicks.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful memory: Her three daughters; Larnetta Hairston (Christopher) Eden, NC, Kelly Moton, Queens, NY, Shannon Moton, Eden NC. Left following her glorious footsteps as we cherish her four grandchildren: Mekhi Hairston, Akira Hairston, Legend Carter, and Lyric Carter. Her seven sisters; Janet Hicks (Fred) of Charlotte, NC, Karla Moton, Tracy Moton, Mary Foster, Anjanette Moton all of Eden, NC. Patricia Scales (Travis) of Stoneville, NC. and Dawn Moton of Collinsville, VA. Three brothers; Ronald “Boo” Moton, Dwayne Moton both of Eden, NC. Anthony Moton (Carol) of Jacksonville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
