Obituary For Leroy Hope

The funeral services for the late Mr. Leroy Hope, who departed this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Pruitt Healthcare in Sylvester, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Shipp's Funeral Home Chapel in Sylvester, Georgia. Overseer Otis Robinson, Sr. will deliver the Eulogy. At the request of the family, the remains will be cremated. SUNRISE: Mr. Leroy Hope was born on May 1, 1960 in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Mattie Ellen Thomas Smith.

Leroy was educated in the Worth County Public School System and graduated from Worth County High School in 1978.

WHILE IT WAS DAY: Leroy worked at BRW Industries and later worked at Peter Pan in Sylvester, Georgia, until his health declined.

At an early age, Leroy gave his life to Christ and joined the Hopewell Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia, where he served faithfully as a member of the Deacon Board and as a Sunday School teacher. He truly loved the Lord!

SUNSET: On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Pruitt Healthcare in Sylvester, Georgia, Leroy heard God’s voice, and moved from Labor to Reward. His mother, Mattie Ellen Thomas Smith, his stepfather, John Lewis Smith, and a brother, Gary Lewis Smith, all have preceded him in death.

LEGACY: Leroy leaves to cherish his memories five sisters, Clovis Diane Gardner, Lynn Hall (Coy Marshall), Denise Hope, Charlotte Evette Hope, and Vontresia Hope; five brothers, Leon (Delma) Hope, Stanley Leo Hope, Christopher Hope, Keith (Kanene) Smith, Tony Smith; lifelong friends and brothers, Arthur Jefferson, James “Jimbob” Pyle; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
