Harvey D. Jackson was born January 12, 1939, in the Promise Land Community of Mississippi County, Arkansas to Leon Jackson, Sr. and Rebecca Gray Jackson. At an early age Harvey dedicated his life to Christ at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W.B. Beck, later uniting with Prince of Peace under the pastorage of Bishop T.J. Rogers. Harvey D received his education in the Armorel School System. As a young man, his trade was auto mechanics. One day he had a terrible accident that resulted in the loss of his left hand. He was so dedicated to his trade, that even after his accident, he continued working on cars and was known throughout Mississippi County as a great mechanic.
On Friday, August 2, 2024, he passed away at his home at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents Leon Jackson, Sr., and Rebecca Gray Jackson, his wives, Ora Mae Conley Jackson and Mollie Rochelle Jackson, his siblings, Leon Jackson, Jr., Elizabeth Kennedy, Myrtle Woolridge, Eddie Bell Hunter, Lillie Bell Jackson, Myra Lee Bell, and Roy Chester Jackson, his children, Barbara Faye Jackson, Frederick Jackson, Sr., Terry Patterson, Billy Conley, Stella Riley and Shirley Patterson, two grandchildren, Michael F. Jackson, III, and Joshua Jackson.
He is survived by five sons, Harvey Jackson, Jr., Michael Jackson, Charles Jackson, Jimmy Patterson, and Greg Conley, nine daughters, Mary Jackson, Linda Jackson, Juanita Jackson, Betty Stokes, Debra Harvey, Alexis Stanback, Brandy Dixon, Sherita (Roma) King, and Chiquita Smith, six brothers, Curtis (Nancy) Jackson, Kirby Lee Jackson (Laura Thompson), Alvin( Pearlie and Marie) Jackson, Ezell Jackson, Charles (Beverly) Jackson, and Sylvester (Annette) Jackson, one sister, Adline (Henry) King, special family, Linda Lue Jackson and Tallie Ann Rogers, two God-children, Eddie Gentry and Marguerite Rogers-Jones, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 at McDonald -Horne Funeral Home, 1207 South Division Street, Blytheville, AR.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Church 501 East McHaney Drive, Blytheville. Pastor Patrick Jackson will deliver the eulogy.
There was only one you and GOD made you so special. I am so glad that I was able to spend my life with you. You taught me so much. "Candy" my name from you and no one else could say it quite like you. You were like my Dad away from home and I will miss you so dearly. I love my dear Uncle Harvey D.
