The family of Mr. Bobby Martin sincerely appreciate the many acts of kindness shown to them during their time of bereavement. They have chosen to later announce a memorial service for their loved one. Please continue to keep them lifted in prayer.
Bobby Martin, the 18 year owner-operator of SAMAR Trucking Co, LLC, and former truck driver for Gulf Oil passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Martin, 84, was the son of Alberta Worbington and John L. Martin, both of who preceded him in death.
Mr. Martin was a graduate of Stevenson High School. He was a longtime, faithful, hard working member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Known to his many trucking friends as “Black Cat”, Bobby retired from long haul trucking in 2005 and re-entered the work force for 13 years as a pilot car escort for 18-wheeler wide loads. Bobby had a love for trucking and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Sadie, of almost 44 years, and three of his five children, Ellean Cole Clark, Deborah Martin Garner and Brian Martin. He was grandfather to 15, great-grandfather to 35, and great-great grandfather to 2. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, classmates and former co-workers.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Y. Martin, son, TeShawn Tyree Martin, and one sister, Ora B. Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the American Heart Association to save lives from heart disease and stroke in honor of Bobby Martin or to Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA). The family of Bobby Martin would be most thankful for your support to either non-profit organization because Bobby's life was increased by 15 years due to a generous family who donated a kidney for his transplant.
