Josephine Yvonne Crozier Wilson was born in Charleston, West Virginia, the fifth child of seven children to the late Britton and Barbara Davis Crozier June 26, 1926. Josephine was nurtured in Christian principles and was surrounded by much love.
Josephine attended Kanawha County Schools and graduated from West Virginia State (College) University and later did advanced studies at Earlham College, Boston College, and Kean (College) University.
While attending West Virginia State Josephine met Bob Wilson, who was an outstanding All-Star basketball player and from their first encounter they would marry on December 3, 1949. They were blessed to share 64 plus years together before Bob's passing in August of 2014. A true love story fit for motion pictures.
Josephine and Bob had four children Bobby, Barbara (deceased), Wendy, and Stephen. The Wilson household was always filled with love and inspiration as Josephine would be the creative and innovative role model for all. Always willing to lend a helping hand to others beyond her family circle was demonstrated consistently throughout her life. A giver of her time and talents as she blessed her community, for she believed it is "better to give, than to receive."
Josephine was a retired educator of 33 years of service to public school systems in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Detroit, Michigan, Dayton, Ohio, and Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Josephine was a Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. serving the Sorority for over 77 years. She was initiated through Alpha Delta chapter West Virginia State (College) University 1947. She has been an active member of North Jersey Alumnae for 51 plus years, where she served as a past President 1979-1981. She actively served on several committees within the chapter; Scholarship Benefit, Reclamation, Nominating, and Fund Raising. Truly a "Delta D.E.A.R."
Josephine was a faithful member of Franklin-St. John United Methodist church, where she worshipped and labored for over 50 plus years prior to her failing health. Josephine was very involved at the church serving as a Church Lay Leader, Chairperson of the Council of Ministry, President of the United Methodist Women, and she served as member of the Financial Committee. She also served as President of the E. Alma Flagg Society, which provided scholarships and Senior Advisor for Daughter of Destiney a youth mentoring group for young ladies ages 5 through 17.
Josephine was such an adventurer as she and Bob would travel the world together with visits to Japan, China, Portugal, Morocco, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Africa.
Josephine always had numerous projects going on all the time. When she was not writing poetry, which she loved so much she published a book of poems entitled "Just For The Occasion" Penned Thoughts by Josephine Crozier Wilson, she hand crafted "Raggedy Ann" stuffed dolls. Josephine loved crafting, sewing, dancing, writing poetry, bowling, playing Scrabble and being surrounded by loving people. Josephine was a people person extraordinaire for sure.
Josephine will truly be missed as she provided so much love and inspiration with every encounter she had. Regardless, whether you were young or old. she just loved to shower others with her love.
Josephine leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to her children son Robert Wilson, III (Stella); daughter Barbara Wilson (deceased); daughter Wendy NaPant (Eze); son Stephen Bernard Wilson; grandchildren; Leslie Wilson (deceased); Tara Wilson (Marvell); Robert Earl Wilson, Sr. (Marissa); Ashley Wilson; Regan Wilson, Ava Moore (Alvin); great grandchildren Aaron Wilson; Dawnquita Wilson; Lauren Milan Rausaw; great grandchildren; Madyson Wilson; Rhyan Wilson; Robert Earl Wilson II; Londyn Wilson; great great-grandchildren Raine Wilson and Lenix Wilson
