Obituary For James Eugene Hilton, Jr.

Mr. James E. Hilton, Jr. was a resident of the District of Columbia and was born on March 1, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia. The second of eight

children born to the late James Eugene Hilton, Sr. and Cora Lee Hilton.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother,

Johnny Frank Hilton, son, Gregory H. Dent-Hilton, and sister, Christine Hilton Johnson.

James fought a good fight and a victorious, triumphant entrance into the presence of his heavenly Father on July 12, 2024.

Celebrating the Life and Victory will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Bible Way Church, 1100 New Jersey Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20001 with Elder Robert Robinson officiating.

Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland-Silver Hill, MD 20746.

James received his education in Georgia and graduated from Louisville High School in Louisville, GA, in 1971.

He was delivered from the life of sin and blessed with the gift of the Holy Ghost. He joined Bible Way Church, Washington, DC, under the leadership of the late “Apostle Smallwood E. Williams”.

He was a member of the Smallwood Williams Chorus and a faithful member of the Deacon Board. He also attended biblical studies at Bible Way Church, Washington, DC.

He worked in medical institutions/fields at a young age. Upon relocating to Washington, DC, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technicians with DC Government and retired from Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital John Howard Pavilion as a Forensic Psychiatric Medical Technician. After retiring, he started delivering various goods in the metropolitan area.

James shared forty-five wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lillian. God blessed him with two children, LaShawn Jones and Michael Hilton, and cherished four amazing grandchildren: Mia, Melissa, Warren, and Ellis. He loved his wife, and his grandchildren were the love of his life.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian; his daughter, LaShawn (Warren) Jones of Waldorf, MD, and one son, Michael Hilton of Washington, DC; and his siblings, John(Beulah) Hilton of Hephzibah, GA, Marie Hilton of Washington, DC, William (Phyllis) Hilton of Lithonia GA, Carolyn Hilton Jones of Augusta GA, and Alfonso Hilton of Washington, DC; his aunts Nancy B. Thompson of Louisville, GA, Marie Morris and Florine Brantley of Savannah, GA, and Uncle Ed Willie of Louisville GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Marshall-March Funeral Home, 4217 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20011 oversees the arrangements.
