Obituary For Mr. George Oscar Streater

George Oscar Streater’s life began on March 15, 1934, to the late James Streater and Garfiellia Sellers in Cabarrus County, NC. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday July 15, 2024 at Atrium Health Union surrounded by his loving family.

George, also known as “Bubba”, attended Second Ward High School in Charlotte NC. He worked at Ballabox for more than 25 years before moving on to Union County Schools, where he retired after 10 years, and Carolina Healthcare System where he retired after 15 years.

George He accepted Christ early in life and was an active member of New Grove Baptist Church in Polkton, NC for many years. He enjoyed attending church and served as a Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his son George Streater Jr, Daughters Irene and Sandra Streater.

George leaves to cherish his wife Martina Streater. Children, CarMichael Streater of Charlotte NC, Jessie Streater of Charlotte NC, Vickie(Earnest) Allen of Pageland SC, Frank Streater of Monroe NC, Meredith Streater of Charlotte NC, James Streater of Charlotte NC, Calvin Streater of Wingate NC and one brother Ben Streater and 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Sunday, July 28, 2024, 3:00pm, New Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1782 Poplar Hill Church Road, Polkton, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the West Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 4557 Deep Creek Road, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Streater Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 2:30-3:00pm and at all other times at the family residence in Wingate, North Carolina.

The public viewing will be on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 12:30-6:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home.
