Obituary For Paul D. Jones

Paul Douglas Jones departed peacefully from this life on July 14, 2024, at Duke University Hospital, in Durham, NC. He was supported by his loving family and cousins and friends.

Paul was born to the late Joe Lewis Jones and Mary Pearson Jones on August 26, 1959. The grandson of the late Sam William Jones and Beatrice Jones

Paul was a 1976 graduate of Laurel Park High School. He attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, majoring in Business Administration, and pledged ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY. Paul also attended Averett University of Danville, VA.

Paul was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Holiness Church, Axton, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant brother: Junior.

Paul leaves to cherish his memories, sister, Marion (Missy) Hairston of Raleigh, NC, four brothers: Louis (Jo-Ann) of Sandston, VA, Edward of Roanoke, VA, Jesse Ray of Durham, NC, Harold (Michelle) of Anchorage, AL, also he leaves to cherish one Aunt: Lenda (Tina) Poindexter of Axton, VA. Two double first cousins: Alferd Lee Jones of Martinsville, VA and Jerry Lewis Jones of Axton; caregiver, Paula Adkins who cared for him for the last ten years; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral at 2 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Elder Bruce Simmons, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Hairston Family Cemetery, Hobson Rd., Axton, VA.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will receive friends during this time. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home Live via Facebook.
