Obituary For Mother Adel Carrie Lee Watson Tibbs

MOTHER ADEL CARRIE LEE WATSON TIBBS – AGE 93, - Of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024. She was born on May 31, 1931 to the late Ed Watson and Fannie Mae Dwight Watson Washington. She was married to the late William “Billy” Tibbs, Sr. for sixty-nine years. She was preceded by her sisters, Nettie Dwight and Annie Ruth Quinn, brothers, Woodrow “Wilson” Blalock, Eugene Watson, and Walter Watson, sisters-in-law, Muriel Blalock, Ruby Tibbs, Rosella Watson, Clemie Watson, Carrie Taylor, brothers-in-law, James Dwight, John B. Quinn, and Jim Tibbs. Mother Adel Tibbs was a faithful member of Miracle Valley Church Of God In Christ and was a retired private caregiver.

Survivors are her loving and devoted family, daughters, Christine (Charles) Hill, Ethel Mae Williams, Marylou (Howard) Kilgore, Cynthia Jones, Lorese “Laura” Crawl, Karen (Alan Carter) Steele; sons, Jerome (Martha Ann) Watson, David (Janice) Watson, Bishop Dr. Bennie Tibbs, William Tibbs, Jr., all of Dalton, Georgia; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren; sister, Mother Allean Watson; sisters-in-law, Patsy Martin, Patricia Hardson; brothers-in-law, J. C. Ramsey, James Ramsey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and her church family. Special Thanks to her caregivers, Vicky McNair, Karson McBrayer, and to Tapestry Hospice Group.

Homegoing Celebration will be Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 2:00 P. M. at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel, 2011 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton, GA. 30721 with Bishop Claud Jones as Eulogist, and Bishop Dr. Bennie Tibbs, Presider. Her remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday after 12:00 noon and all day on Saturday. Interment, Hopewell Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
