Fredrick Michael Malloy

11/16/1970 - 07/11/2024

Fredrick Michael Malloy, son of Clarence Peter Clay and the late Annie Howard Malloy, was born on November 16, 1970 in Durham, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life, unexpectedly, on July 11, 2024 at the Brian Center in Yanceyville, North Carolina.

Frederick, also known as Mike and Skibo, was educated in the Durham City Schools. Growing up in Durham, Mike loved sports and played on several baseball and basketball teams. He particularly enjoyed playing baseball under the leadership of the late Coach David Parker. Mike was also an excellent swimmer, and spent hours in the water swimming and playing with his friends and family at the Hillside pool.

Mike loved the outdoors and would often visit family and friends around town, walking from one neighborhood to another.

Due to an unfortunate accident, he was paralyzed from the waist down. Mike persevered and continued his visits, this time traveling by his motorized wheelchair.

After moving to the Brian Center in Yanceyville, North Carolina for special care, Mike suffered another setback and had to have both legs amputated. This setback didn't slow him down either. Mike continued to laugh, joke, and entertain the residents of the Brian Center.

Affectionately known to the residents as Skibo, Mike would run errands for them, going to the store or picking up food at a nearby restaurant. Skibo could really drive that wheelchair and was often seen traveling nearby the Center.

Fredrick was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Howard Malloy, two aunts, Rebecca Malloy and Brenda Malloy, an uncle, Fredrick L Malloy, his paternal grandmother, Marion Vivian Clay, maternal grandfather, Fredrick D Malloy, and his maternal great-grandmother, Annie J McRae.

Left to mourn him are his father and step-mother, Clarence Peter Clay and Lorraine Ford Clay; sister, Tiffany Clay Johnson (Sean); aunts, Angeletta Malloy Bumpass (Carl), Edith Clay Knight (Edward), Judy Clay Rogers, Brenda Ford Harding (Robert), Doris Ford Bullock, and Beverly Allen; uncles John "Jock" Clay (Shirley), and Quinton Clay, grandmother, Annie Lee Malloy, great-aunts, Elizabeth McRae, Helen Clay, great-uncles, LeRoy McRae, Kenneth Clay (Suzanne) and Tyrone Clay (Charlene), and many cousins and friends.

Condolences may be sent to the home of Clarence Peter and Lorraine Clay at 5312 Revere Road, Durham, NC 27713.
