Obituary For Robert Brantely Henderson, Jr.

MR. ROBERT BRANTELY HENDERSON, JR. - Age 59, of LaFayette, Georgia, formerly Pontiac, Michigan, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024. He was born May 30, 1965 to his parents; mother, Patricia Ann Brembery Brooks and late father, Robert Brantely Henderson, Sr. He served in the United Sates Army from 1984 – 1987 and was Honorably Discharged. He began his collegiate education at Oakland Community College where was a successful cross country team runner, qualifying for National Championships and making the USA Today Newspaper. He continued his education and track career at Alabama A&M University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work and a Minor in Criminal Justice. Soon After, Robert met the love of his life and began to start his family. He was last employed by Cloud Springs Elementary School, Department of Family and Children Services, And Adult Protective Services Case Manager. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was an avid fishermen, traveler, and fan of the University of Michigan and the Detroit Pistons. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Niniva Jackson and O. V. Moss and special aunt, Kathleen Brembery.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Faye Sligh; children, Aviante, Keontae, Jenee, Kearia, Robin, Patrick, and Jaden; grandchildren, Maliyah, Devin, and Ivory; mother, Patricia Ann Brembery Brooks; Aunt, Hattie Jeanette Bremberry; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Ronald (Gwendolyn) Acklin, Aundra Acklin, Cynthia (Farentino)Payne, Sonya Bynum, and Melvin Brown, Jr.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 2:00 P. M. at Willis Funeral Home, 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd Dalton, GA, with Rev. Albert Hill, Eulogist. The family will receive extended family and friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00 P. M. until the funeral hour. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed through the Willis Funeral Home Facebook. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.
