Mother lucena loved to clean her garden 🍃 I would hear her air blower on... -Then I knew she was up and going ... I would go to say hi by walking towards the back side of my fence . And that's where we spoke about positive things she always had a great attitude about life. Always gave me good advice . And must of all she prayed for my family. I named her mother goose because she was a caring mom to everyone . -We All got together in holidays specially thanks giving . I Am heart broken and she will physically be missed but god has her in his right hands and I will in my heart ♥️ Rosanna

Mother Lucena was a wonderful neighbor that always welcomed us with open arms and a warm heart. Growing up next door, she assisted our family in finding food assistance and help when we needed it the most. When I was in my juvenile years, I would go over to Mother Lucena's house and she would bake cakes and spend beautiful afternoons in the garden speaking the word of Christ. We are thankful for these beautiful memories that she blessed us with. May she rest in paradise and continue to touch the souls she encountered.

Tribute to Mrs. Lucena C. Garvey by Rev. Hambert Smith Mrs. Garvey was a very, very dear and devoted friend to me and countless others. Whenever I was sick and hospitalized, she was always there by my side. About 18 years ago when I did surgery and removed one of my kidneys, Mrs. Garvey visited me constantly and nourished and reassured me with Bible readings and prayers. Every chance she had she was there to see that I was alright. One one of those occasions when she arrived, the doctor was at my bedside busy writing his notes. Mrs. Garvey asked him, "How is the patient doing?" The doctor replied,"Not good. We have to transfer him to another hospital." Mrs. Garvey was puzzled and asked, "Are you sure you are talking about this patient?" The doctor looked down at his notes and said, "Oh, my God. It's the wrong patient. " I have really lost a friend who was like a mother. She was a woman of love. She loved her family and people unconditionally. She was another Mother Theresa. As long as I live, I can and will never forget her. She will remain in my heart forever. May her soul rest in peace and light perpetually shine upon her.

It's hard to find words to describe how loving and kind Mrs. Garvey was. I never visited her home and left empty handed. Whether it was a piece of cake, some cherry juice, some avocados or plant cuttings from her garden. She had to give you something. I will never forget her Thanksgiving dinners- her sweet yams lingers on my palette. She was a good person with a great, caring heart. May her soul rest in peace and light perpetually shine upon her.
