Obituary For Lafayette Devon Hodge

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Lafayette Devon Hodge, 74, of Valentine Ct., Martinsville, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. He was born March 3, 1950, in Martinsville, VA to the late Jesse Ben Hodge and Dorothy Finney Estes.

Lafayette attended Meadowview A.M.E. Church and Shiloh Missionary Baptist. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired as a Staff Sergeant from the National Guards after 21 years of service, and from Frith Construction Company.

Lafayette was a member of the Homer Dillard Post #78 and was a Mason. He was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1969.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Debra Hodge of the home; one daughter, Marissa L. Hodge of Newport News, VA; three sons, Lafayette D. Hodge, Jr. of Manassas, VA, Victor E. Hodge of Ridgeway, VA and Decarlos Beal of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren; three sisters, Naomi Hodge Muse of Martinsville, VA, Reverend Amy Christine Hodge of Roanoke, VA and Rosa Hodge Mustafa of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Jason Hodge, Terry Hodge and Larry Hodge all of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Pastor Benjamin Redd, Eulogist. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 59 Valentine Ct., Martinsville, VA. Live streaming available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
