Obituary For Ethelean Kimbro

Etherlean Kimbro was born on June 29, 1926, in Siloam, Georgia (Greene County) to the late Mary Rowland and Charlie Rhodes. Her father later married the late Odessa Hall who became an amazing and wonderful mother figure. Eleven children came from this blended family.

At an early age, Etherlean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a proud, dedicated member of the New Springfield Baptist Church. She spent all but 3 years of her life in Siloam, Georgia and remained an active member. She served on the Mother’s Board and sang in the Senior Choir.

Etherlean was a wonderful, loving, caring and nurturing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her smile was so sweet it warmed the hearts of all who came in contact with her. She was known for many things, but most memorable were her melt-in-your-mouth homemade biscuits. One of her grandchildren said that if she ever forgot how to make those biscuits, her anointed hands never would. Her late son-in-law (Chuck) always called her “Queen Lean” for her heir of sophistication. This was because she always loved to dress up and wear her pretty jewelry, especially her earbobs.

She was married to the late Hilliard Kimbro. She had 7 children of which her love and devotion was unwavering. Without judgment she was always there for them, no matter what. She would always say, “I love all of my children.” Her love and memories remain steadfast in our hearts. We thank God for allowing her to celebrate her 98th birthday with us.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children Betty Rogers, Ethel Kimbro, Mary (James) Daniel, Cynthia (Bernard) Reese; Grandchildren: Monisha (Michael) Dalcoe, Karla (Edward) Birt, Jarvis (Kim) Evans, James (Tamu) Daniel, Pam (Quentin) Render, Trell (Patrick) Oliver, Christian Reese; Great Grandchildren: Kai Harris, Kayla Harris, Stephen Birt, Sidney Birt, Jasmine Render, Jeremiah Render, Jarvis Evans, Jr., Ryan Simpson, Shelby Gray, Anaiah Daniel, Gabrielle Daniel, Josiah Daniel; Great-Great Grandchildren: Amari Robbins, Aubri Robbins, Layla Simpson Landon Simpson and Lilliana Gray.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Rhodes; father, Charlie Rhodes, and stepmother, Odessa Rhodes, her daughter, Fannie Robbins, son Hilliard Kimbro Jr., son James Kimbro, four sisters, Daisy Bell, Florida Smith, Hazel Lewis and Nellie Foster, four brothers, Jimmie Smith, William Rhodes, Grady Rhodes, and Clady Rhodes.

Service: Saturday, July 6, 2024 from New Springfield Baptist Church, Siloam, Ga. with Pastor Roi T. Johnson, Eulogist.
