Obituary For Harold Liley

HAROLD LILEY, one of six children born to the late James Henry Liley and Louise (Carney) Liley, was born on Tuesday, January 27, 1931 in Greenville, North Carolina.

After 20 years of service, he retired from the City of Harrisburg. He attended Trinity Church of Harrisburg where he was known as “Mr. Trash Man”. He sang on the men’s choir and was a member of the Men of Joshua.

In the community he was a member of the Heinz Senior Center where he enjoyed playing cards. He was also a member of Unity Lodge #71. In his leisure, he enjoyed watching Westerns and having fun with the family.

On February 22, 1999, he married Cecelia R. (Waters-Barton) Liley.

Harold Liley, at the age of 93 years, entered into eternal life on Monday, June 24, 2024 in the peace and love of his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five siblings and he leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories of him, his wife, Cecelia R. Liley; three step daughters, Fonda (Mont) Simmons, Nina (Mike) Jacobs and Teresa Brown; his sister-in-law, Helen Liley of California; two brothers-in-law, Rodman Barton of Harrisburg and Robert (Thelma) Weatherly of Atlanta; his aunt, Lillian Stewart; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his nieces and nephews, Linda Mines of Delaware, Donna Bland, Fasha Hunter, Zalen Liley, Abric Liley and Pamela Washington, all of California and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harold's life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in the Sanctuary of Trinity Church of Harrisburg, 244 Harris Street, Harrisburg with viewing and visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
