Obituary For Mary Evelyn Glenn Scott


Ms. Mary Evelyn Glenn Scott was born May 26, 1947, to the late George Glenn Sr. and Christine Major Glenn in Boston, Georgia. On June 11, 2024, she was called home to be with the Lord.

She attended school in Thomas County, Georgia and graduated from Magnolia High School in the class of 1965. She joined St. John AME Church at an early age, she served in the kitchen and finance departments. Mary retired in 2015 from Hampton Inn Hotel in Thomasville, Georgia where she worked as a laundry attendant. Mary enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and listening to stories of her four great-grandchildren who she loved with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Lillian, Edward, Livingston, Harry, and Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her sister cousin Ida Pearl Street.

Mary is survived by three children: Sonja Scott (Stanley Lilly), Boston Georgia, Brenda Gail Scott (Lamar Ward Sr), Lake Wales, Florida, Brian Linell Scott, Boston, Georgia. Four grandchildren: Whitney Gi’Ana Scott, Tallahassee, Florida, Errick Michael Scott, Boston, Georgia, Brianna Marissa Ward, Lake Wales, Florida and Andrea Tracy Ward, Lake Wales, Florida. Four great-grandchildren: Aubrey Sy’mone Taylor, Lake Wales, Florida, Gabrielle Elise Taylor, Lake Wales, Florida, Aston Elijah Reese, Tallahassee, Florida and Kentrell Rashard Wright, Lake Wales, Florida. One brother George Glenn Jr. (Jessie Lee), Thomasville, Georgia. Sister in laws Fronnie Glenn, Valdosta, Georgia, Frances Glenn, Madison Heights, Virginia. Ms. Mary Evelyn Glenn Scott is survived by several devoted cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 6PM-7PM.


Home going services will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11AM at St. John Church in Boston, GA. Burial will follow in the Boston Cemetery. Visit this website to view a livestream of the celebration.

May God's grace be with you all in the transitioning of Mary Evelyn. We were young and children together and my family always loved and respected her.
