Obituary For Eugene Chappell

On June 5, 1940, Mr. Eugene Chappell was born to the late Mr. Eddie Chappell Sr. and Beatrice Chappell. He gained his wings on June 10, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV with family.

Lou attended Jefferson County public school systems and as a young adult migrated to West Palm Beach, FL where he began working in the construction industry. Upon returning home to Ga, he gained employment and West End Milling Company, Quitman, GA. As a believer in the Christian Faith, he joined Shumate Street Church of Christ.

With his out-going personality, he met no strangers and was well known in the community where everyone called him “Pops”. On any given day, you could find him in a fresh pair of Addidas, at a convenient store or eating at his favorite restaurant, KFC. He loved spending time with his family, visiting the country and taking vacations to West Palm Beach, FL. He lived a respectful life and often reminded those around him, “respect is given when it’s earned.”

He was preceded in death by siblings, Eddie Chappell Jr, Lee Chappell, and Beatrice Chapell; one son Marven Chappell Sr., and one grandson, Christopher Marven Hallman.

He leaves to cherish his legacy, one son, Freddie Chappell Sr., Valdosta, GA, four daughters, Ella Dasher (Earl), Sandra Chappell, both of Quitman, GA, Eugenia Chappell, Atlanta, GA and Tiffani Chappell-Brooks (Demario), Las Vegas, NV; a special nephew that he loved as his son Eddie Chappell; twenty-three grand kids, a host of great-grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2024 from 4PM-7PM.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 3PM at Shumate Street Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.

Continue to pray along with the Chappell Family during this time.
