In her early life, Maudie married the late Herman Hall Sr. and they relocated to Dallas, Texas, to their union, two children were raised. Maudie Mae owned several café businesses in the Dallas area for many years. Maudie Mae’s passion in life was to be the “LIFE” and “LAUGHTER” of any gathering. Maudie Mae was one of the family’s greatest cooks. She specialized in barbecue. Later in life, she relocated back to her hometown, Tyler, Texas. After settling in, she helped her niece re-open a well-known café on the corner of Morris Street and Palace Street. Shortly after the Butts family retired from the business, Maudie Mae and Sharon Wickware worked closely to keep the corner of Morris Street and Palace Street up and running with hot fish plates and more. Maudie Mae didn’t let anything stop her from showing friends and family a good time during gatherings. She had a few rules, and one main rule was keeping the area CLEAN. Maudie Mae would say “You may not have much, but what you got keep it clean”!!
