Obituary For Mr. Leora Colson

Leora (Lee) Colson, the son of Clarence Howell and Lillie Colson Ledbetter, was born in Stanly County, NC, on November 8, 1954. He peacefully departed this life on June 23, 2024, with his loving and devoted family by his side.

Lee's journey of education began in the Stanly County schools. He then embarked on a noble path of service, joining the United States Navy and earning an honorable discharge. His dedication extended to his professional life, where he served the State of North Carolina and Michelin Tire for over 17 years.

Lee’s spiritual journey began at an early age, when he confessed Christ at Cottonville A.M.E. Zion Church in Norwood, NC. Even though Lee recently returned to NC, he was still a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington, SC, where he resided for over thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his birth father, Clarence Howell. His sister, Juliet Richardson, met him in Heaven on June 27, 2024.

He was a gentle and patient soul. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Jo Ann Colson, his mother, Lillie Ledbetter, and bonus father, Harold Ledbetter, sons Tyris Meaders and Clarence (Sarah) Colson, and daughters Shareva Carpenter and Dayshel Colson.

Ten Grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Cree, Dawson, Dinija, Deliah, Darcee, Kennedy, Moriah, Davi, Sanaa, and Liam. Three great grandchildren.
