Obituary For Mother Dorothy V. Hairston

Mother Dorothy Virginia Hairston, 88, of Stella Loop, Spencer, VA departed from this life on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. She was born February 13, 1936, in Henry County, VA the daughter of the late Macie Niblett.

In addition to her mother, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon John Henry Hairston, and two sons, Daniel Hairston and Elder John David Hairston.

Dorothy was a faithful member of Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church where she served as the Church Mother. She retired from Bassett Chair Factory after many years of service.

Those left to cherish her memory includes: one daughter, Norma Redd (Elder Jimmy) of Roanoke, VA; two sons, Steve Hairston (Diane) and Donl Hairston (Vanessa) both of Martinsville, VA; daughter-in-law, Helen Hairston of Burlington, NC; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Niblett (Louise) of Martinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. with funeral service at 1 p.m. at Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church, 30568 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Spencer, VA with Elder Kevin Hunter, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Hairston Family Cemetery, Rea Rd., Spencer, Virginia.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 728 Stella Loop, Spencer, VA.
