Obituary For Dorothy C. Dallas

On Friday, June 21, 2024, Dorothy Dallas, 87, of Martinsville, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born October 20, 1936, in Gretna, VA the daughter of the late Robert Callands and Sadie Miller Hailey.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James β€œPete” Dallas, and stepfather, Earley Hailey.

At an early age, Dorothy became a member of Mt. Airy Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna, VA. After relocating to Martinsville, Dorothy became a member of Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Choir. She retired from E.I. Dupont after many years of service.

Those left to cherish her memory includes: a devoted nephew and caregiver, James Hubbard (Dale) of Long Island, VA; devoted friends, Elma Lane and Wilma Motley both of Gretna, VA, Connie Jamerson, Phebie Gravely, Mary Ann Smith and Katie Napper all of Martinsville, VA, and Virgie Myers of Axton, VA; cousins, Mary Avery of Cheltenham, MD and Evelyn Pearson of Upper Marlboro, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Patterson, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.

She was a very special lady. I enjoyed her and Pete when they came to visit, lots of laughs.

She was always the sweetest person! I've never seen her angry. I just remember all the laughs and talks i remember overhearing. She'll be missed, but she's in a better place with no suffering. She can hear the beautiful songs and see the beauty all around her.
