Obituary For Robert Thomas Martin

Robert Thomas Martin passed away just seven days before his birthday on June 10, 2024 at the age of 63, in Houston, Texas with his daughter and son by his side. His battle with cancer over the last 2 years and 3 months showed his courage in facing lifes challenges with a smile. He would always say, "I'm doing pretty good," whenever asked how he was feeling. Despite the pain, Robert was a hero and stayed strong until the end. He never stopped making sure everyone else was ok despite his own circumstance.

Robert grew up in Ruffin, North Carolina with his Parents, David and Lola Martin and three older siblings David Jr., Artis, and Eloise before joing the United States Air Force. He proudly served 20 years retiring as a decorated TSGT. He recieved Associates degrees in Electronic Systems Technology and Avionic Systems Technology from The Community College of the Air Force. After much travel and an honoroable discharge from the Air Force in 2000, Robert settled into his new role as an IT Systems Support Specialist for Round Rock Independent School District in Round Rock, Texas where he lived with his family. His leadership team and collegues speak highly of his work ethic and quirky sense of humor. He was truly a joy to have in the office. Robert was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Austin, Texas where he served as part of the safety and security ministry.

Robert is survived by his two children Dominque (Briana) and Chantele Martin, his granddaughters Cali and Rylee Martin, and his older brothers David Martin Jr. and Artis (Edith) Martin. All of Robert's nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. The family will always fondly remember his smile and gentle spirit.

Funeral will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 3pm New Ephesus Baptist Church 8939 US Hwy 158 W Ruffin, North Carolina. 2:30pm Visitation. Burial will follow at Church Cemetery.
