Obituary For Rev. Roy Alphonso Carter, Sr.

Rev. Roy Alphonso Carter, of Henrico, peacefully transitioned June 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Evelyn T. Carter; children, Roy A. Carter, Jr. and Pamela C. Johnson; grandson, Devin A. Johnson; two great-granddaughters, Amiya Johnson and Amora Johnson; two brothers, Roland Carter (Barbara) and Dennis Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. where viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024 followed by the family receiving friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 24 at St. Peter Baptist Church, 2040 Mountain Road, Glen Allen. Dr. Kirkland R. Walton eulogist. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rev. Carter’s name to: VCU ALS Clinic, 11958 W. Broad Street, Henrico, VA 23233.
