Obituary For Sandra Kay Barron

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, the Lord said, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant” and God called Sandra Kay Barron home. She was born January 19, 1957, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Sandra was born to Willie James Barron and Mattie Thelma Barron. She was the third of her mother's seven children. Her parents, grandparents, brother, Arsene Balentine and son-in-law Miquel Hollands preceded her in death.

When life gives you a rose you name her Sandra. Sandra Kay Barron grew up in Chicago, Illinois after her mother Mattie Thelma moved the family there in the 1950's. Sandra received her primary education from the Chicago Public School System, where she graduated from Englewood High School in 1975. Sandra was an active member of the ROTC. She attended Kennedy King College where she had a passion for volleyball. Sandra was a beloved employee at Long Creek Elementary School where she retired from working in custodial services. During her many years there she received accolades and appreciation for the pride and effectiveness that she brought in work. Cherished by faculty and students alike. Oftentimes she could be heard saying, “A clean house will open the doors to a clean heart” and how a little bit of pine-sol can heal almost anything.

In 1981 she welcomed her first love Serria Monique Barron into the world. With an abundance in her heart, she created her second love La'Chary Ann Barron Teague in 1988. The more love she created, the more she was able to give, birthing her final child Na'Tosha De'Von Barron in 1989. All three were fathered by her then partner Willie Hughes of Chicago, Illinois. A devoted mother, giving her a lineage of girls.

Sandra, known to her friends and loved ones as Kay, shared her care for others through cooking warm meals and making everyone in her presence feel welcomed. She had a profound love for music of all genres dancing to her beloved songs until the very end. While Sandra poured her heart into motherhood, she found her light in being a grandmother, taking on the title of “Grams” to her five beloved grandchildren. She was a thoughtful member of the community who could always be depended on to offer a helping hand with a warm smile.

Sandra Kay leaves behind to cherish her precious memory, three beautiful daughters, Serria (Miquel, deceased) Barron, LaChary (Jaunesto) Teague, and Na'Tosha De'Von Barron; four sisters, Shirley Potts, Jean Barron-Day, Michele Barron and Charlotte Wise; six brothers, Frederick (Glory) Carter, Glenn (LeeAnn) Barron, Michael (Maxine) Barron, Kenneth (LaTisha) Barron, Nelson Burnside, and Jeffery Burnside; five grandchildren, Tikkia Barron, Kameron Dotson, Anthony Harris, Miquel Barron, and Emery Kae Teague; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
