Grace Briscoe

Passed 05/26/2024

Grace Marie Jones Briscoe, 66, of 301 E. Ross Grove Road, entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Wendover Hospice, Shelby, NC.

Born on August 13, 1957, in Shelby, NC to the late Willie and Elizabeth Jones, Sister Grace was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Head of the Culinary Ministry, and a part of the R.E. Devoe Spiritual Choir.

She was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed cooking and feeding others. She loved hosting Sunday dinners for her family and friends and organizing family gatherings and beach vacations. Grace had a heart of gold with unlimited space for all with the words of an old familiar song “May the works I’ve done speak for me” and this really mimicked her life.

Grace spent most of her life managing the family home; however, during her working years she held various positions as a production worker at Clevemont Mills, Kendall Drugs, and Bali Intimates/Hanes Brand. Her love of cooking and catering allowed her to passionately feed a multitude of families throughout Cleveland County and surrounding areas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Deacon Milton Ray Briscoe; son Marlon Jones, brothers Eddie and Bill Jones and one sister Ella Hardin (Sherwood); brother in-laws Sylvester Littlejohn and Gregory Briscoe.

Grace leaves to cherish fond memories nine children whom she raised and loved dearly, Milton Briscoe (Katrina) of Shelby, NC, Audréa Wilson Goodman (Kenneth) of Harrisburg, NC, Shaletta Wilson of Shelby, NC, Reverend Sherise Lindsay (Antonio) of Winston-Salem, NC, Alécia Wilson of Charlotte, and four children in the home, Sherrita, India, Micah and Johanna Briscoe; four sisters, Patricia Petty, Betty Raper, Janice Bridges (Floyd) and Faye Littlejohn (Roger); four brothers, Johnny Jones (Lisa), Walter Jones (Ann), Percy Tate (Libby) and Jack Tate; in-laws Kenneth Briscoe of Shelby and Daryl Briscoe of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Linda Stroud Wilson (James) of Kingstown, NC; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; ten God-children; a special sister, Cassandra Jones of Shelby, NC, special nieces, Tenisha Hush of Shelby and Chelsea Jones of Rutherfordton, NC; special nephews, Victor Hardin of Cherryville, NC and Michael Wright of the home; and three special friends, Eunice Poston, Lena Brown and Jenelle Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church.
