PASTOR JEFFREY HUNTER, SR. was born in Valdosta, Georgia, to the late Melvin Hunter, Sr. and the late Arvera Hunter on August 17,1963. He is the third of five children. He was educated in the Valdosta City school system graduating in the Class 1981.
He served in the United States Army and the United States Army National Guard. He started his law enforcement career with the Valdosta Police Department, later transitioned to the Lowndes County Sheriff Office. He was chosen to attend the Georgia State Patrol 66th Trooper School. Retiring after 27 years of faithful service to the citizens of Lowndes County and the State of Georgia.
He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Letitia (Hart) Hunter on March 12, 1988. They have been blessed with three wonderful sons, two beautiful granddaughters, and two bonus grandchildren.
Pastor Hunter accepted his Lord and Savior at a very early age. Pastor Hunter became a member of the Riverhill Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized as a youth. He rededicated his life back to God in 1993 and became a changed man. Pastor Hunter was an ordained Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Choir member at Monument Missionary Baptist Church of Quitman, Georgia. He answered the call from God to enter into the ministry. He became a licensed Minister under the leadership of Pastor Lennon Ware, Monument MBC. Pastor Hunter moved his membership and joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor, Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr. in August of 2009. He was later elevated to the position of Associate Minister and served faithfully in several capacities and ministries at Mount Calvary MBC. Pastor Jeffrey Hunter was ordained by Pastor William C. Morgan and the Presbytery Council with the blessings of his Pastor, Dr, Charles E. Vinson, Sr., on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Mount Calvary MBC. The Lord moved in a powerful way and he was called to pastor his first church 2nd Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of Quitman, Georgia where he served faithfully over 4 years. In 2018, Pastor Hunter became the Founder and Senior Pastor of The Rock Outreach Ministry located in Valdosta, Georgia where he served until his passing.

Pastor Jeffrey Hunter leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Letitia (Hart) Hunter; three wonderful sons, Jamaal (Kiara) Hunter, Jamel Hunter (Julia), and Jeffrey Hunter, Jr.; two of his heartbeat grandchildren, Melanie Hunter and Mallorie Hunter and two bonus grandchildren, Markale Thomas and Whitley Brown; three brothers, Melvin Hunter, Jr., Steve (Cynthia) Hunter, and Derrick Hunter; one sister, Sheila (Stevie) Harmon; four favored sisters, Brenda Johnson, Dr. Jacquita Vickers, Bridgett (Joseph) Howell, and Kimberly Vickers; one blessed brother, Calvin Vickers; special nephew, Melvin Hunter, III; godbrother, Derrick (Wilena) Perry; godson, Alex (DeDee) Hall; brothers-in-law, Anderson (Cynthia) Hart, III, Elder Dwayne (Tracie) Hart, Elder Christopher (Latricia) Hart, and Travis (Shermeka) Hart; aunts, Lucinda Donaldson, Carolyn Calhoun, and Dora Lee Johnson; and uncles, (Rita) Herring and Deacon Elisha (Pastor Rita) Herring. He has a blessed and favored offspring of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family of The Rock Outreach Ministry. Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 2PM-4PM.
Home going services will be Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11AM at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Charles E. Vincent, Sr., Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
