Obituary For Sgt. Mark Thomas

“Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In
my Father’s house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for
you I will come again and receive you unto myself: there – where I am,
there ye may be also.” John 14: 1 – 3


Sgt. Mark Thomas was born December 26, 1962 in Fairfax, South Carolina to the late Ellen Thomas.
At an early age, Sgt. Mark joined and became baptized at Miller Swamp Baptist Church.


He attended the public schools of Allendale County.
After graduating from high school, Sgt. Mark enlisted in the United States Army National Guard.

He served his country faithfully for 21 years, including 3 deployments, one to Iraq and two to Afghanistan.

Upon returning home, Sgt. Mark continued to do what he love most, working in the yard, and being a family man. He loved to smile and he loved to put a smile on his family faces.

Sgt. Mark was employed with Voorhees University for 10 years.

On Monday, May 6, 2024, Our Heavenly Father saw fit to call Sgt. Mark home from labor to reward.
In addition, to his mother he is preceded in death by (2) brothers: Marvin Thomas and Michael Thomas.


Accepting God’s will and cherishing Sgt. Mark’s memories are: (2)Daughters: Destinee (Khaleef) Riley; Spartanburg, SC; Shelia (Dewayne) Priester; Blackville, SC; (1) Adopted Son: Terrance
Riley; Allendale, SC; (1) Grand- Daughter: Kiyomi Brown; Spartanburg, SC; (2) Sisters: Carla Davis; Allendale, SC; Sharon Outing; Barnwell, SC; (1) Aunt: Rosa Bing; Fairfax, SC; (1) Sister -In - Law: Barry Ann Thomas; Fairfax, SC; (3) Special Cousins: Jackie Wright, Brandy Williams, and Barbara (Willie) Junior; all of Sycamore, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
