Avery was my investigator at the DA's office for about a year. When I was assigned to a new court, he would still come by my office to ask how I was doing and commiserate. Avery's spirit is like mine- full of joy and mischief. I never saw him treat anyone but with kindness and respect. I nevertheless knew that his friendship was sincere. He loved to tell stories, and there was hardly a story that didn't involve his daughter or his wife. In his eues they were incomperable, and the love and pride he held for them was never far from his lips. Avery and I survived some of the hardest times of my career- struggling to teach myself a challenging new job with little to no guidance and carrying a load that hed previously been shared by three people. If it had not been for his spirit, compassion, and that inimitable beaming smile, I don't know if I would have made it. I had already missed you since they said you were sick, brother. I walked past your office day after day, hoping to see that grin and hear some improbable yarn about what had kept you away. I imagined us laughing as I teased you about playung hookey to go lay on a beach somewhere and sip mai-tais, or working some side hustle until the office figured out that never really planned on coming back. I was not ready to say goodbye, friend.

Extending my sincerest condolences to the Pittman family. Avery was a strong supporter of the Central High School Red Devil Regiment Marching Band & always helped out in the concessions. He always lit up the room & made everyone laugh. He was such a great human!!! You'll be missed; rest in peace!!
