The journey of the life of Cedric Bernard Smith began in Albany, GA, on December 4, 1972. He was the son of the late Valeane Smith and Eddie Edwards.
Cedric was educated in the Dougherty County school system. A graduate of Monroe Comprehensive High School, he was an outstanding football player and a member of ESQ. He had a big personality with a contagious smile and a sense of humor to match it. He was a genuine person with a heart for his family and friends.
He was a very hard worker both on and off the job. He worked at Phoebe Putney for over 21 years with Albany Pulmonology being his most recent job. When he wasn’t working, he was also a barber, mechanic, lawn care specialist, chef, and bartender, a.k.a. a jack of all trades. He was often called by his loved ones as “One Call That’s All,” “Ice Cube,” “Nard,” or “Ced.”
He loved and adored his family and friends. He was the life of the party. He was a strong man physically and through his character. He was the best-dressed individual with a style of his own, even down to his work uniform.
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, Cedric faced the sunset of his earthly journey and transitioned to his eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Frankie Lee, Delores, Kenneth, and Michael.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Valerie Smith; one daughter, Sedricka Smith; two granddaughters, Jade Hargrow and Joye Hargrow; stepsons, Tanrrence West and Frederick West; nine siblings, Norma Meadows (Morris), Curtis Smith (Carol), Geraldine Brown (Johnnie), Debra Lamar, Regina Knighton, Temeca Smith, Dana Wright, Daci Wright, and Reverend Eshawn Edwards. He was also loved and cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, friends, and co-workers, including his best friend of many years, Jay Broxton. Roll Tide!
