Obituary For Rev. Travis Holmes

Rev. Travis Sentel Holmes was born on September 16, 1979, in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Jennie Holmes Johnson and Mr. Charlie Wilkins, Jr. He was educated in the public school of Upson County. He attended R.E. Lee High School and later earned his GED. Travis joined the Fellowship Baptist Church at an early age.

When he reached adulthood, he worked many jobs. He finally found employment at Dart where he worked his way up to being a supervisor. Travis married Ms. Melissa Robinson on June 30, 2007. The two of them shared their life together through sickness and health. He was the father of five children and the grandfather of one.

Rev. Travis accepted his call into the ministry. He was licensed by Pastor Alonzo Taylor. He later opened his own church, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, in Thomaston and pastored for several years. He later joined the Springhill Community Baptist Church and served under Pastor Robert Howell as his Associate Pastor. He loved the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.

In his spare time, he enjoyed going to church, working on cars, eating his favorite foods, watermelon and cantaloupe, fishing, working on computers and watching his favorite movie, Ray Charles and NCIS.

He was preceded in death by his mother, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jannie Wilkins, his paternal grandfather, Mr. Charlie Wilkins, Sr. and his step-father, Mr. David Lee Johnson. On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the Lord summoned his spirit home. He departed this life and went home to eternal rest.
