Obituary For Henry Leo Thompson Jr.

Henry Leo Thompson Jr., son of the late Henry Leo Thompson, Sr., and Tommie Jane Thompson was born on Sunday, December 3, 1961, in St. Augustine, Florida. He was educated in the local school and began playing sports at Ketterlinus Junior High. While on the basketball team he earned a Certificate of Honor. Henry also played football for St. Augustine High, earning the nickname “Big Hen”, which stuck with him forever. After high school, Henry joined the workforce in the field of Culinary Art. Henry used his culinary gift in various restaurants. He finished his culinary journey at Denny’s where he worked for over 20 years. This is how Henry lived his dash, it began in 1961-2024. The greatest joy of Henry finishing his journey was knowing he acknowledged, confessed, believed, and accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Henry Leo Thompson finished his life’s journey at Community Hospice Bailey Center in St. Augustine at 3:30 a.m., on April, 9, 2024.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, Arthel McKay, paternal grandmother, Ruby Thompson, maternal grandmother, Loreen Sherman, niece, Ivory Brown, aunts, Bobbie Jean Baker, Lillie Thompson, Virginia Teasley, uncles, Carl Thompson, Charlie Thompson, Alonza Thompson, god-daughter, Kelly Trumble

Henry leaves precious memories in the hearts of: his sisters, Rev. Mae (John) Burch, Sandra Thompson, Patricia Branch, all of St. Augustine; brothers, Nathaniel McCall, South Carolina, Larry (Linda) McCall, Amos Chambers, St. Augustine; Kevin Fontaine, New York; step father, Joe Wiggins, St. Augustine; uncle, Robert Shirman, aunts, Marvel (Henry) Davis, Elizabeth (John) Hunter, Doris Thompson, New York; Sandy Mathis, Pendleton, South Carolina, god-children, Kiarra, Rolando & Lennix Santos Trumble, god-sisters, Joan (Ricky) Thomas, Lelia Tobler, special friends, Josh Stevens, Barry Holmes, Calvin Shuman, German Santos, 8 nieces, 2 nephews, and a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends

Visitation Friday, April 19, 6-7 p.m., at The Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, @ Anchor of Faith Chruch, 2121 US-1 South. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery.
