Mrs. Quencie Hunter Davis

SPARTANBURG, SC--- Mrs. Quencie Magnolia Hunter Davis, widow of Eugene Davis and the daughter of the late Mr. Rufus Hunter and Mrs. Maggie Fuller Hunter, was born on September 17, 1918 in Clinton, South Carolina. She peacefully heard the Master's call on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mrs. Davis was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for almost seventy years where she served in many capacities: Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Senior and Mass Choir Member, Missionary Society, Mothers' Board Ministry, and Pastoral Selection Committee. Mrs. Davis graduated from Cumming Street High School. She furthered her education at Friendship College in Rock Hill, South Carolina and graduated from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Her love for children extended into a career of teaching for over 42 years. The majority of her years were in Spartanburg County School District Five where she later retired. Those who will cherish her memories are: her daughter, Mrs. Rae Davis (Ricky) Jones, her grandchildren Wesley and Rickeata Jones, her great grandchildren Austin Jones and Ezephron Bradley, one nephew Rufus (Thelma) Wright, her great niece Kim Amstead, two God-children Sheila Henderson and Faith Peters and a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Mrs. Davis was the youngest of ten children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Obie Hunter, John Wesley Hunter, Andy Lee 'Jake' Hunter and George Hunter; her sisters, Oveller H. Graham, Christine H. Wright, Sallie Ruth H. Caldwell, Chicora Hunter and Buzzena H. Wright. A Celebration of the Life for Quencie Magnolia Hunter Davis will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 700 S. Converse St., Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Charles J.J. Jackson, III will officiate. Interment will be held in Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC. Friend and family visitation will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.; at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, South Carolina. J.W.
