Mrs. Annie Louise Staggs Means

SPARTANBURG, SC- Mrs. Annie Louise Staggs Means was born in Spartanburg County to the late Rufus Samuel Staggs and Marie Peak Staggs Lyles on June 24, 1931. She departed this life Monday, September 29, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Louise joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She worked in the Health Care Industry most of her life, beginning her career in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and then working at hospitals in Alexandria, Virginia Beach and Norfolk, VA. Louise was preceded in death by: her parents and her step-father, William Lyles; her beloved maternal grandmother, Bessie Jackson; paternal grandparents, Emmanuel and Cora Staggs; her two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Canady and Mrs. Ruth Mayhorn; and her three brothers, Willie Staggs, Charles L. Staggs and Clyde L. Staggs. Mrs. Means was the mother of three children, two sons, Rufus Devon Lewis III, who preceded her in death, and Dwight Wesley of the home and one daughter, Ms. Ester Marie Lewis, Spartanburg, SC. Also left to cherish fond memories are: two grandsons reared in the home, Rufus Devon Lewis IV and William Quincy Lewis, Spartanburg, SC; one Brother, James Littlejohn ,Charlotte, North Carolina; three Aunts, Mrs. Flora (JW) Robinson, Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Beuline Staggs, Wellford, SC and Mrs. Margaret Lyles, Inman, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of the Life of Annie Louise Staggs Means on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 34 Blackstock Rd, Inman, SC. Dr. R.L. Sadler will officiate. Interment will be held in the Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Rd., Spartanburg, SC. J.W. Woodward Funeral Home
