Obituary For James Henry Nickerson

Our beloved, Bo Nickerson (aka The Hammer) was born on September 18, 1948, to the late John Henry Nickerson and Iresse Nickerson Collins.

At an early age, Bo joined the True Vine M.B. Church and later in life joined the Traveler's Rest M.B. Church, where he remained a member until his health began to fail him.

James β€œBo” Nickerson received his education in the Attala County Kosciusko Public School System. He worked various jobs in construction and for many years he worked for Ivey's Mechanical.

Bo met and married, Lethe Nickerson at a young age, and to this union, four children: Dorell, Troy, James, and Latisha were born. He later married Clara Hill Edwards Nickerson.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John Henry Nickerson, Iresse Collins; son, James A. Nickerson; and brothers: Henry Newell (Noonie), Edward Charles, Johnny Ray (Jap) and Willie Ray Nickerson.

Bo was a person of few words who loved his peace and quiet, which was the opposite of the Bo in his younger days that was a live wire that kept family and friends alike on our toes. There were times when you wanted to laugh at or with him and other times when choking seemed like a better option, yet we all loved him deeply. He was one of a kind. He was strong on the outside but a teddy bear on the inside.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Dorell and Troy and his daughters: Cynthia Mitchell, and Latisha Nickerson; Siblings: Albert Henry (Betty) Nickerson, Jean (Will) Covington, Joyce Rayford, Margaret (Melvin) Redd, Debra Elmore; Bonny (Jesse) Martin, Bobbie Collins (Jose) Romero, and Betty Collins; Uncle: James (Georgie) Winters; Aunts: Ethel Hardy, Sarah Buchanan, and Inez Winters, and a host of nephews, great-nephews, nieces, great-nieces, cousins and friends that loved him.

James Henry "Bo" Nickerson departed this life on March 21, 2024.
