Obituary For Deacon Alex O'Neil Reeves, Sr.

Deacon Alex O'Neil Reeves Sr., more affectionately, known as “Neil,” was born on June 28, 1970 to the late Mrs. Ola Willis Reeves and the late Mr. Isaac Reeves, Sr. in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia.

He was educated in the public school of Upson County and graduated from Upson High School. After high school, he worked for a few years in brick masonry and later with the state. He returned to school and earned his CDL License and started driving trucks. He was employed as a commercial truck driver for the United States Postal Service.

At an early age, Neil joined the Olive Grove Baptist Church. He served on the Usher Board. Seeing his dedication and faithfulness, he later set aside for the Deacon Ministry. He was soon ordained a deacon, a position he held in high esteem. He also served on the finance committee. He loved going to church and hearing the preached word of God.

On December 29, 2001, he married his high school sweetheart, Ms. Kristie Murchison. They shared over 23 years together. He was a loving husband and a devoted father to three children. He loved and adored his baby girl, Sydney. He was a proud grandfather of three grandchildren. Having God in his life and the love of his family made his life complete.

During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, cooking for the family, grilling, watching and supporting the Florida Seminoles and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents. On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Lord summoned him home to eternal rest. His spirit took flight and returned to his Heavenly Father. His departure has saddened the hearts of his family but his memory will live on.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Kristie Murchison Reeves of Hampton, GA; three children, Mr. Cortez O'Neil (Brittany) Reeves of Columbus, GA, Mr. Alex O'Neil Reeves, II of Kansas City, MO, and Ms. Sydney Kamor Reeves of Hampton, GA; three grandchildren, Mariah Peterson, Malachi O'Neil Reeves and Maliha Reeves; Father-in-law, Mr. Kenny Cunningham of Thomaston, GA.; two sisters, Mrs. Loretta R.
