Obituary For Dinitia Marshall McGriff Carithers

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Dinitia Carithers, who departed this life on Monday, March 18, 2024, will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Bishop Nathaniel McGriff will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Services may be viewed Facebook Live from the “Shipps Funeral Home” Facebook page or by clicking the Video Stream link on this site's Home Page. Viewing/visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 Noon -8:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Dinitia Marshall McGriff Carithers was born on August 8, 1968 in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland and Rosie Lee Greene McGriff.

Dinitia was educated in the Turner County Public School System and graduated from Turner County High School in 1987. She furthered her education by attending Moultrie Technical College and earned her Associate Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Cosmetology. She was known in the community for Girl Scouts, “Girls Growing Up”, and as a substitute teacher in the Turner County School System. She made a huge impact on the youth in the community in many ways.

On March 18, 2024, our beloved Dinitia gained her beautiful Heavenly wings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Rosie Lee McGriff, a sister, Lisa McGriff Holley, a nephew, Quintonio Traylor, and a great nephew, Quinvetz Cross.

Dinitia leaves behind to cherish her memories her spouse, Creginald Carithers, two daughters, Ceounte (Jamal) Johnson, Nyia Carithers, stepchildren; grandchildren, Nylan Williams, Elijah Williams, Khloe Ewing, Robyn Gaskins, Ahmad Ewing, Messiah Ewing, Quentalon Rockwell, Jr., Angel Rockwell; two sisters, Sherrie McGriff, Renase McGriff, two brothers, Anthony McGriff, Donald McGriff; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee and Mary Carithers; and a host of other family members and friends.
