Deepest condolences to the OREN MONROE MARSH, JR. Family. MR. MARSH'S gifts made room for him! My first introduction to him was in 1979 at Duke University Medical Center as the Employees Relations Coordinator/Manager who was excellent for that position ๐. His charismatic personality made it easy for so many people to want to be a member of his numerous church, community and work-related (Employees Award Banquet at DUMC) choirs, plays or other performances that he directed with such perfection and professionalism. He is now continuing his musical skills in the heavenly choir. To God be the Glory for such an amazing friend, servant of God, and encourager/mentor! With so much RESPECT ๐, "Aretha Franklin" from the 1980 DUMC Employees Award Banquet: TAKE IT FROM THE TOP: 50 YEARS OF MUSIC PRODUCTION! THANK YOU! We are saddened to hear of Oren's death. He was a dear cousin and will be remembered as a talented musician, genealogist and just a good and decent man. Elbert, Helen Marsh and family

Cousin Oren was a multidimensional guy. Musician, song writer, musical writer, and gifted singer. I also note the energy he invested in organizing the family reunions of 20 or more years. His memories of the descendants of Grannie Sookie gave life, and more meaning, to our family's vibrant history, from before the end of slavery to the present day. He deserves to rest in peace. Elbert Marsh and family.

Uncle June. Your talent, humor, commitment, and familial knowledge will never be forgotten. You let me know that the Marshes had a history beyond fayetteville road. From the family reunions, to your documenting of our history, your dedication could only be rivaled by your contribution to Durham through your legacy of music. Thank you for being someone that I could admire as a child, and being seen as a living legend through Dad and Aunt Sandra. You were loved by many and will be remembered by many more. Until we see each other again, Your nephew - Frederick Marsh Jr. (Chip)

The "griot" of the Marsh Family has gone home to be with the Lord. He was a storyteller, keeper of the family history and master musician. "Well done my good and faithful servant" are words that God received him into heaven. He loved God, his family and his neighbors. My cousin, I will always love you. You taught me that family is a priority that is worth fighting for. Heaven has just received a new Choir Director. Rest in peace. With Love, Rev. Dr. Garrett L. Marsh Sr.

My condolences to the family. My late mother Brenda Carolyn Jeffries Hall before she passed years ago, said to me, when the Lord calls me to rest know that I only want Oren to play at my home going. My family was blessed that he was in fact there to send her off as no other musician could. May God continue to comfort your family during this time. Yolanda Hall and family.
