Obituary For Sherman Clay Edwards

Sherman Clay Edwards, 72 of Bowie, TX, passed away Wednesday, March 13th, 2024.


The funeral service to honor and celebrate Sherman's life will take place at the White Family Funeral Home at 1418 Hwy 59 N. in Bowie, on March 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM.


Burial will follow at Briar Creek Cemetery in Bowie.


Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.


Sherman was born on December 12, 1951, in Shamrock, TX, beloved son of Cecil and Mary Edwards. A 1970 graduate of Boswell High School in Saginaw, TX, Sherman also served in the United States Air Force.


Sherman married the love of his life, Marilyn Apala, on May 30, 1980. They shared close to 44 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished family moments. They were each other's best friends, enjoying their children and grandchildren, sports, casinos, hanging in the pool and traveling together.

He dedicated his working years to the family-owned E&S floor company in Saginaw, TX, alongside his parents and brother. In his retirement, Sherman found joy as a beloved bus driver for Bowie ISD.

Known for his humor and playful pranks, Sherman was the ultimate comedian, always bringing laughter wherever he went. His fierce love for his family and friends was a defining characteristic that touched the lives of all who knew him. Sherman will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his memory live on in the hearts of those who loved him.


He is preceded in death by his son, Jaime Edwards, his father Cecil Edwards, his mother Mary Edwards, and his brother William Edwards.


Sherman is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Edwards, his son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Jill Edwards, his daughter, Kimberly Wagner, his son and fiancée, Cody Edwards and Miranda, his brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Cheryl Edwards, his grandson and wife, Coby and Shelby, his great-granddaughter Everly, his grandson and wife Trenton and Delaney, his great-granddaughters Berkleigh and Lilah Ruth, his granddaughters Jaycee, and Nicole, his grandsons Hayden, Casen, Spencer, and Kyler, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
