Carla Denise Hinton, affectionately known as NeeCee, entered into eternal rest on March 8, 2024, at the age of 58.
Born on May 22, 1965, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Carla was the cherished daughter of the late Amelia Bell Hinton. She was raised in a loving family environment, surrounded by the care of her legal guardians, the late Jake Crenshaw, and Maggie Moses Crenshaw. Carla was also preceded in death by her grandmother Pearline Hinton, her uncle Jim Perry (Lessie); honorary sisters, Joyce Williamson and Dorothy Greason; honorary brother Pinkney Moses, Jr., as well as cousins Dennis Hinton, Kecia Tate, and Betty Adams.
Carla's dedication to serving others led her to pursue a career in social work, most recently with the Randolph County Department of Social Services. She received her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCATSU). She was a proud member of the Blue & Gold marching machine and continued her involvement after graduation in the Alumni Band Association. Her commitment to helping those in need left an indelible mark on the community she served. She was a lifelong and dedicated member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she grew in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Carla was a charter member of the Genesis Chapter #673 Order of Eastern Star PHA where she demonstrated their values of dependability, trustworthiness, and loyalty.
Carla was a Silver Star member of the Beta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She exemplified the values of service and sisterhood and deeply loved being a member. She touched the lives of many through her involvement in various charitable endeavors and community outreach programs.
Carla will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her sister, Arthea Benita Perry, and honorary sisters Bernadine Duncan (Howard), Irma Jean Moses, and Margaret Dudley. She is also survived by her uncle, Willie Hinton (Mary), aunts Bobbye Tate and Rosa Hinton, godsons Zebulun and Shannon Tate, goddaughters Ashleigh Taylor and Mabre’ Dawson; cousins Tracy Hinton, Jennifer Hinton, Tony Hinton, Charles Tate, Rahim Muhammad, Harriet Harris, Tony Harris, Erik Moses, Pier Duncan and Courtney Duncan and a host of other relatives and special friends.
Known for her captivating smile and gentle demeanor, Carla had a knack for brightening any room she entered. She possessed a quiet strength and was adept at gracefully conveying her thoughts and ideas. Carla enjoyed exploring the world through travel, delving into mystery novels, and indulging in her love for shopping, particularly for items in her favorite colors, pink and green.
A celebration of Carla's life will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church 1210 S Eugene St. Greensboro, NC 27406 on Friday, March 22, 2024, at noon. Visitation at 11:15 am. Burial will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens 5710 Riverdale Dr. Jamestown, NC 27282.
Carla will forever be cherished for her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love for others. May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever illuminated by the memories she created and the lives she touched.
