Brother Cee Jaye McLean, son of the late Bertha Co eld McLean and Hilbert McLean, Sr., was born August 7, 1942, in Wake County, and departed this life on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by a sister, Hilda McLean, and three brothers, Walter McLean, Millard McLean, and Hilbert McLean, Jr.

Brother Cee Jaye graduated from Fuquay Consolidated High School in 1961. While attending North Carolina Central University in Durham, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served three years as a Medical Specialist in Germany. In May 1994, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Brother Cee Jaye enjoyed working and had multiple professions. He was employed at Almay Cosmetics, Inc., Apex, North Carolina, for 20 years. He loved being a radio announcer (18 years) for WAKS Radio Station. “Cee Jaye the DJ” is what people called him. It was once stated that he rarely had anything to say except when a radio microphone was placed before him. Before his health declined, he was a devoted sales associate in the men’s department for JCPenney, Cary, North Carolina.

Brother Cee Jaye truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, such as bowling or playing pool with friends. His love for music was obvious. He owned several guitars. Brother Cee Jaye had an exceptional ability to make people smile. He had a giving and loving heart. You could find him visiting family and friends at any given time.

He was an active member at Douglas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Holly Springs, Noth Carolina, where he played the guitar, sang in the choir, and served on the Trustee Board. He was also a class leader. He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Deshon Nicholas (Latoya) McLean, Raleigh, North Carolina, Raheam D. McLean, Welch, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Startia McLean, Janya McDougal, Isaiah Pannel, and Ziquine Hopkins; two brothers, Malon (Jean) McLean, Apex, North Carolina, Wilbert (Jackie) McLean, Wake Forest, North Carolina; four sisters, Clarese McLean Howard and Alease McLean, Holly Springs, North Carolina, Ernestine Street, Rural Hall, North Carolina, and Maelene Randolph, Newark, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Rebecca McLean, Raleigh, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.

Visitation: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Douglas Chapel AME Zion Church in Holly Springs, NC 27540.

Funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Douglas Chapel AME Zion Church, 201 Douglas Street in Holly Springs, NC 27540.

Burial: Church Cemetery
